FEA Case Study: Results Animation
Von Mises stress animation, not just cool but very helpful
Animations tell us much about how the part/assembly is performing under load/use. Specifically, they highlight the distortion that occurs which gives the designer a better 'feel' of how the all important 'balance of stiffness' is working within the part/assembly. They also show whether the FEA model has been preprocessed correctly, since the behaviour exhibited in the animation is the behaviour expected in the real world. Here, the animation clearly demonstrates the massive deformation occuring in the tyre being reacted through the wheel into the spring/suspension. The animation shows the wheel moving as you would expect in the real world, hence if the designer is satisfied with the boundary conditions, then more confidence can be gained in the results.
