Elastomers are a versatile material, whatever the application 
Elastomers such as natural or synthetic rubber, silicon, polyurethane (PU) etc. have perfect mechanical, physical and chemical properties for a variety of engineering/product uses. But, they can be pain to integrate into both product design and manufacturing processes because of their flexible and deformation characteristics. Great care has to be taken with their underformed (tooled) shape, cross section thickness/stiffness properties, tooling creation and application to make sure the final design intent is realised.
