Precision and fine aluminium or plastic profiles 
A volume manufacturing process with exceptional tolerances in usually plastic (such as PVC) or aluminium. The extrusion part design is as one with the tooling design. Issues such as cross sections thickness can be corrected by altering the 'bearing length' in the tool for successful extrusion. Attention has to be given to geometric design not only to achieve function, but also make the 2D section more extrusion friendly. Sections may be solid or hollow, but hollow designs (requiring a tooling mandrel) can be complex and tooling costs rise. A Final CNC machining process may be required and various surface finishses may be applied, especially with aluminium.
