Tooling (Mould) Design

Tooling design (mould production) for just about any material
Whether you manufacture in high or low volume, from plastic (polymers), ferrous or non-ferrous metals, elastomers, composites etc. a mould, tool or cavity will be required. A cavity is the negative of the part, whilst the postive is the part itself, used in the production of some tools such as EDM (Electro Discharge Machining), or lost wax (investment) casting. The part design is totally integrated into the tooling desing, even though any part can be modelled in 3D CAD, there's not much point if it can't be made or it's too expensive! Split lines and geometry are given in the part design so that the tool may be formed correctly and split accordingly. Ejector & runner assmeblies are required to complete, but will usually be added by the tool or die maker to suit their equipment.
