Concept design - sketch out how we want things to look 
After the product brief and Product Design Specification (PDS) have been established and agreed, concept sketches are produced. The whole point of producing concepts is to solve the problem laid out in the product brief and PDS. There may be numerous concepts which solve the problem, and like most things each will have pros and cons. The way forward is usually to integrate some of the solutions together giving the best possible final design, trying to 'design out' rather than 'design in ' problems further on - especially during manufacture.
